Overview

LIVE-STOCK and ABDELLATIF are independent jewelry projects designed and fabricated by Sarah Abdellatif. LIVE-STOCK, in collaboration with fashion designer and Parsons student Jordan Perdomo, reimagines cattle tags as forms of adornment, reflecting on the convergence of mistreatment towards cattle and people of color.

The pieces were produced for Perdomo’s SS26 experimental runway show and performance, in collaboration with several New York City community gardens, which provided soil and materials for the runway layout. The pieces thus live within a larger context, becoming emblems of a collective pursuit towards community engagement and activism in the design community.

ABDELLATIF, Sarah’s debut capsule collection, meditates on her own disparate arab identity, separated by space and time and only found intangibly - within her father’s memories. The project engages with topography, both physically within the work’s visual language and as a reflection of the physical disembodiedness related to immigration and asylum seeking. Both projects unite within one frame - the physical body as a reflection of both freedom and imprisonment.
